Alson is an educational consultant at ACERI Partners, LLC. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in communications at Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky and began his career as a journalist, specializing in educational features. That experience inspired him to further his education, whereby he earned a second bachelor of arts degree in elementary education (P-5) at Midway College in Midway, Kentucky with an emphasis in language arts. He went on to earn a master of education degree at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio with an emphasis in educational administration. Alson worked successfully as a general education teacher for several years and exhibited a knack for teaching all students by utilizing the principles of universal design for learning (UDL) in his lesson designs and classroom practices. His interest in helping all students achieve success led him to ILSSA at the University of Kentucky, whereby he worked on several state alternate assessment projects, developing and delivering trainings and technical assistance for special education teachers to help them ensure their modifications and accommodations maintained the academic integrity of the concepts taught and assessed. He also worked for the National Center and State Collaborative (NCSC) consortia, training teachers and writing sample instructional units for them to use as resources. Alson is a member of TASH and has presented at the TASH national conference multiple times.
